Laduree on Champs-Elysees

I lectured this afternoon at Musee L'Orangerie to class today before taking a stroll up the Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe. I have to say, one of the first things I thought was, "Oh my God!  The last stage of the tour will end with laps around the Champs."  Looking at the cobbles in my last pic in this group, I have to say that it would be a dangerous and difficult ride.

I stopped in this really famous tea house called, Laduree, rumored to have some of the best macaroons in the world. The place is decorated in Napoleonic fashion (which is awesome given that I spent some time going through Napoleon's apartments on the third floor of the Louvre in search of furniture to use in my work.  Those pics will have to be another post. ) I had a raspberry macaroon and after the first bite, needed a cigarette and clean change of clothes.  Love like that doesn't come cheap though.  My colleague bought a box of 20 some macaroons for the students and it was over 76 euro.  Yikes!  Better wean myself off of these before I start to like them!

Here are a couple of links as well.  The first is a review with video and the second to their official site.
